Klay Thompson breaks NBA record, scoring record 37 points in a quarter

Caribbean American Klay Thompson of the NBA's Golden State Warriors scored 37 points in the third quarter against the Sacramento Kings last night to break the previous record of 33 points scored in a quarter set by George Gervin when he was with the San Antonio Spurs in 1978 and matched by Carmelo Anthony when he was with the Denver Nuggets in 2008.

Thompson also broke the record for number of three pointers made in a quarter by scoring nine. The previous record of eight three pointers made in a quarter was held by Michael Redd and Joe Johnson.

Thompson was amazing in that he hit all thirteen of his field goal attempts including the nine three pointers and thus tied a record set by David Thompson.

He started the third quarter with 13 points and ended it with fifty. Thompson finished the game with 52 points and also had, five assists, four steals, and two blocks.
