Jamaica bans Sherone Simpson Allison Randall for doping

Sherone Simpson and Allison Randall

Yesterday, the Jamaica Anti-Doping Disciplinary Commission banned Beijing Olympics 100m silver medallist Sherone Simpson and  London Olympics discus thrower Allison Randall for failed drug tests last June.

Sherone Simpson was suspended for 18 months, while Allison Randall was suspended for two years.

Simpson tested positive for the banned stimulant oxilofrine at the 2013 Jamaican National Championships. Her suspension is retroactive ton June 21, 2013, the date of the drug test. And she is ineligible to compete until December 20, 2014.

Randall, Jamaica's national discus record holder with a distance of 61.21m, who tested positive for hydro-chlorothiazide, was given a  two rear ban that is also retroactive to last June which makes her ineligible for competition until June 2015.

Yesterday's ruling does not bode well for Asafa Powell, who also tested positive for oxilofrine at the 2013 Jamaican National Championships, and will learn of his fate tomorrow.
